Cirencester Shops and Business

Cirencester Shops

Cirencester has a mix of shops that should cater for most people's needs.

The main shopping area centres around the Market Place, Dyer Street, Cricklade Street and Castle Street. There is also a small covered shopping area called Bishops Walk. CDs, videos and DVDs can be found in WH Smiths in Castle Street. There are a couple of video and DVD rental outlets in the town, the largest being Choices in Dyer Street which also hires out Playstation and XBox games.

Currys, the largest specialist electrical retailer in the town, closed in 2006 but a range of electrical goods can be purchased from the catalogue shop Argos which has a presence in Dyer Street,

Concord Foto Centre in Castle Street sells digital and film cameras and a wide rande of photography accessories.

Womenswear is particularly well represented with many independent stores in the town together with established chains such as Dorothy Perkins and Country Casuals. Next closed its shop in October 2009.

Lock Stock and Barrel in the Market Place is among the shops selling 'nik naks', while House of Fraser (previously Rackhams), also in the Market Place, prides itself on being Cirencester's one and only department store.

Halfords, Boots, Thorntons, Goldsmiths, New Wave Fish Shop and the West Cornwall Pasty Co. are further examples of the type of store to be found in the town.

The Black Jack Street area is fast becoming a 'must visit' area with loads of 'nooks and crannies' to explore. And the re-development of the back of the Post Office area has brought further outlets to this area such as Jack Russell.

You will also find the major banks and building societies such as Barclays, HSBC, Nationwide, Nat West and Abbey

The Cirencester Charter Market can be found in the Market Place every Monday and Friday.

On the outskirts of Cirencester you can find Dobbies Garden Centre and Tesco.
